The digital counter fundamental concept of digital electronics

As we all know, digital electronics is one of the main subjects of electronic engineering. Digital counter is the logical device that every engineering student must have read. This counter is based on the fundamental theory of the electronics digital.

This device is extensively demanded in computing for storing and displaying the specific data according to the programming. In other words, the counter can be defined as a single or multi-function device that helps in indicating a specific time. Now, let us understand counters in brief.

Need of digital counters in digital electronics?

In very simple words, counting is indicates incrementing or decrementing values of an operator in accordance with its previous state value. Thus, for calculating the mathematical operation, counters are needed. This counting action cannot be done with any other logical device.

This attribute of digital counter makes it highly demanded and appreciated in digital electronics. Thus, it can be concluded that the counter’s output has a predefined state base for the clock pulse usage. Functioning of the counters is simple and it can be illustrated easily. The counter is generally divided into the category of the synchronous counter or asynchronous counter which is based on its flip-flop arrangement.
