Illustration on the Types of Digital Timer

A digital timer is a small and convenient electronic device that works digitally to keep a track of time. It is a simple timer working in a digital manner. It shows the timings in units of seconds, minutes and hours. It is battery- powered and generally has a non- volatile battery so that the data does not get lost when the timer is not connected to the power supply.

Digital Timer is highly accurate and reliable too which is why it is commonly employed in factories and industries for various tasks.

It is available in several types according to the usage and functions-

·         Delay- on timers- these use a definite time to pass as soon as the input signal is received and the readings start measuring to activate the output. When the delay ends, the contacts release and shut automatically.

·         Delay- off timers- these begin functioning when there is an interruption in the power supply. It works in the inverse way as of delay- on timers.

·         One shot timer- they contact instantly when the power supply is given to the timer and once the fixed interval exceeds as set by the user, the contacts come back to the same initial position. These are also known as pulse former timers.

·         Recycle timers- the control switches the closing which begins the cycling function. The load will periodically continue to switch on and off. The process terminates as soon as the time limit is reached and the control switch releases.

·         Interval delay timers- this type of digital timer is also known as the delay pulse timer. It works when the relay is immediately strengthened as soon as there is application of supply or end of the input switch.

·         Time meters- they are used to keep a track of timings. They work more like a stopwatch.
