Tachometers are
an important aspect of an array of industries, most prominently of the
automobile sector. It has proved itself successful and better in competition
with other such devices of the same use in accurately measuring the
acceleration (change in velocity over a specific period of time) of a rotating
body in terms of RPM (Revolution per Minute).
Some choices that
come with buying a tachometer-
·
Whether you have to buy a small or a large unit.
·
Whether you are supposed to fix it at one place or
carry it with you (portable).
·
Whether it has a volatile battery or a non-
volatile battery.
·
Whether you have to modify it further and add new
features as per you or not. Adding desired features may account to increased
rate of the product due to additional modifications.
·
Tachometer
is available in both expensive and cheap ranges. Frankly speaking, the
expensive ones have turned out to be better as they offer good quality and
longer shelf life while the cheap ones might not be so promising.
Apart from these
choices, there are many other additions and modifications that you can benefit
from. It assures accurate readings. NOTE- A machine’s accuracy can be
tested by its least count. Less the least count of a machine, more is its
precision.
There are some
types of tachometers which can be looked upon to select the most suitable for
you in terms of purpose and functionality-
·
Contact - These require a contact with the rotating body
to measure value of RPM.
·
Non- Contact- these do not require a contact between the
two.
·
Laser-
these use the function of a laser to measure RPM without any contact.
·
Optical-
these have an optical sensor to measure the value without contact.
As an advisory,
buying a non- contact tachometer
or which does not require contact might be better.
